Matthew Addison, Executive Director of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, awarding the very first —ever — BIA Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) to BIA Perth Partner Cheryl Knight at the annual BIA Partner Conference held in Melbourne on 4th December 2007.

Dennis Turner, the CEO and Principal of the Bookkeeping Institute of Australia congratulates BIA Perth Partner Cheryl Knight on her achievement as the very first person in Australia to be awarded the BIA Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) at the annual BIA Partner Conference held in Melbourne on 4th December 2007.

Cheryl now delivers the BIA developed BIA Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) herself, from her WiseClick Training Center in Perth. She started the course in early September 2007 by distance learning and finished in just 3 months.

Treasury have released a revised draft bill for the creation of an official status to be known as a BAS Agent.

This legislation will replace section 251L of the 1936 Income Tax Assessment Act which sets the rules for contract bookkeepers who receive a fee for giving GST/BAS advice or lodging BAS statements.
